People are rarely surprised when I tell them I'm a wedding DJ, but they always are when I tell them I'm also a marriage celebrant. I don't know exactly what to make of this - but it's no big deal, because I love what I do, and I reckon I’m pretty damn good at it.
I spent a long time running cables, tuning speakers, and burning my hands on stage lights in the world of corporate events before it dawned on me: conferences are not parties, and I was not having a good time. From that day forward (after 30 days notice), work would be a good time. I burned my suit (hung it up in my wardrobe), put on a more comfortable suit, and became The Wedding Host.
In the meantime, I've also helped write a bunch of ads - mostly for Chicken Treat, (best fried chicken ever, KFC sucks) but there's been a few others in there too, and more to come! Also my cat was in a Chicken Treat ad, but weirdly enough, I didn't write that one - just lent them cat.
Weddings have been life for over 5 years now, but my love of music, making people dance, and spinning their yarns meant zero chance of winding up anywhere else. Other hobbies include: yelling at Wildcats (the team, not strays), pretending to be handyman, awaiting package delivery, and laugh-snorting (it's hereditary).
But it's mostly weddings. I meet the coolest people, find the coolest music, and have the best times. I hope that's cool with you, cos I'm gonna keep doing it - and Ikick butt at it.
